Christian Benjamin Olsen (b.1873 Odense—d.1935 Frederiksberg)
Christian Benjamin Olsen was a Danish marine painter, who painted in the tradition of Carl Locher, Vilhelm Arnesen, and under the mentorship of Christian Blache (see the Ship Portrait of the Top Sail Schooner ”Kaerteminde”).
After a trip to North and West Africa with S/S CG Koch, he debuted at the Artist’s Autumn Exhibit in 1905. He also painted many ship portraits and marine seascapes as a porcelain painter, where he was known for his specific technique, and he worked from 1906 until his death, first with Bing and Grondahl, and then with Royal Copenhagen.
His works can be found, among other places, in the Museum ofKoldinghus and the Museum of Seafaring, in Denmark, as well as in the British Royal Collection Trust.
